Dealing with Target

I had an "experience" at Target Friday, and thought I would pass on to you what I learned, so you can continue to be a happy Target shopper.

1. When your receipt "expires", it expires. You can contact Target Customer Service (right from the store on their phone) and if you are lucky, they will give the store an override code. If the item was on clearance when you bought it and your receipt expires, the chances of you getting an override code are slim and none.

2. When you call Target Customer Service, either from the store or your home, if you can't understand the person, ask to be transferred back to the US. Don't ask for a supervisor, because they may/may not be any more understandable. Immediately ask to be transferred to the US. (I would imagine this goes for any other company that is using an off-shore call center).

Target -- nampa store info

There's not a whole bunch going on at Target this week worth mentioning. It was pretty slim pickings last night.

If you wanted to try the GM Cocoa Puffs "price match with Walgreens & coupon" scenario outlined by Discount Queens HERE, there were about six boxes on the shelf last night. I wimped out on this one....just don't need another two boxes of cereal to figure out where to store them!

NO Cheerios cups on the shelf (again) when I looked.

Target -- Tostitos chips for cheap!

I almost can't believe this worked. I've been rockin' busy today -- running around shopping & trying to get it all "done" today. Are we ever really done though??

Target has this sale on the front cover of this week's ad. This involved doing a price match with the Walgreens ad (also on the front cover) -- remember to take the entire ad with you to the Target CS desk.

Here is a deal I did at Target this morning:


Buy 2 Tostitos at 2/$5 and get a FREE salsa

2 Tostitos chips
$1.99 ea w/ Walgreens price match
1 Tostitos salsa
$1/1 IP here when buy 1 Tostitos chip & 1 salsa

So, I just split the cost for each item -- $1 each! SWEET!

I was able to use this IP coupon today. I think using it will depend on the CS clerk you get when doing this transaction.

Target -- Old El Paso taco mix for $0.07 !

Last night was a pretty rockin' trip for me at Target. My friend Cynthia and I hit the clearance end caps and we got some good deals.


Here's what I bought and how I did:

($26.89 w/tax)





10 cans of Progresso soup, chicken variety
3 jars Wishbone Bountiful salad dressings
2 boxes of Betty Crocker Supreme Brownie Mix
4 jars of Dole All Natural mixed fruit

1 bag of Ghirardelli chocolate chips


My biggest expense was the Progresso soup. I bought 10 cans for $13.80 (before tax). So, all the rest of the items cost me $11.05 (before tax). I'm still working on the Progresso Soup I bought at Albs for $1 each, but I'd like a little more variety right now. (I've had so much tomato soup I think I'm turning into a tomato!) I'm hoping there will be a rockin' Progresso soup coupon or sale this fall! Wouldn't that be totally sweet?

I have some other things I found at Target that I want to share with you. I'll get those up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Target -- First Price Match trip results!

As Target is now price matching local ads, I thought I'd take the Nampa store up on this offer! *smile* This was another sale at Walgreens I just didn't want to mess with the filler item to use all the coupons I wanted to use.

The adventure began...it would be more interesting if I said I was in the deepest part of the Congo, lost without a guide, no food, no water, and no hope of help (meaning, I was the only one who understood what I wanted to do). However, it was really like walking down the sidewalk (no hiking through a cannibal infested jungle required) and painless! The clerk was really helpful & it was a great experience.

I still had two receipts on this trip because the Fiber One pastries rang up at the wrong price -- and at the Customer Service (CS) counter you can't see the prices as they ring up. So, you'll need to "watch" your sale closely and probably have to the clerk verify the prices you're expecting when using the CS counter.

Here are a couple things to take note of if you want to price match at Target.

(1) Bring the entire ad with you. Don't just clip out the section you want to use.
(2) Target will only do price matches at the Customer Service (CS) counter.

Target -- Venus bonus pkg for $5.64!

I totally didn't plan on hitting Target last night. I was ready to spend the night in and perhaps count my stockpile (picture a dragon counting her gold!). However, my husband's hair clippers DIED! He needed a haircut BADLY, so, off I run to the store to try and buy a replacement. I just knew I was going to pay *shudder* retail.

I don't know how some of the other couponers do it. You never seem to hear about the OMGihavetobuythattodaycauseineedit store runs. It just has to happen sometimes... maybe that's just not a cool thing to post. Well, I'm here to share that life happens even to couponers! Although I was on a mission, I did scope out stuff and find a couple of deals!

You don't have to worry that I'm gonna start posting EVERY shopping trip I make. That would be like going up to a complete stranger in the store and telling him/her the color of your underwear. Yikes! That would be just WAY too weird.

So, I'm putting my stuff in the car, and I'm thinking my new facial astringent sure smells strong. I didn't remember it being that stinky in the store. So, I peer in the bag by the meager parking lot lights -- reach in slowly for the bottle -- and SURE enough -- one of the bottles had spilled all over the stuff I just bought! Urrrgh! I grabbed some paper towels I keep in the car and shoved some in the bag. So, that bottle's price per ounce is just a tinsy bit off now!

The receipt got a few battle scars along the way.

Target -- get a healthy tan on the cheap!

With summer (yeah, I know, summer with lots of rain) threatening to make it's appearance anytime now, are you ready? I don't know about you, but I don't have the time to tan! I also don't want to increase my risk of skin cancer as it runs in my family. So, the solution I'm trying this year is using Jergens Natural Glow. Target -- Sweet Ice Cream deal!

My second stop this past Saturday morning was to Target to get these items before they went off sale. I wanted to get in on the ice cream promo where you buy 5 and get a $5 gift card. I also wanted to get the free bread when buying a peanut butter and a jelly. I had some coupons that were expiring, so I did a little hygiene shopping as well. Here's how I did:
