Inexpensive chicken
How is your supply of frozen chicken breasts? After I posted about inexpensive hams, I was bopping around the web and found a post on Fabulously Frugal about inexpensive chicken at Winco in Meridian - 3 lb. bags for $3.98! $1.33/lb is a really good price! Until someone goes to a different Winco and then posts, we have no way of knowing if this is specific to that location or if it's chain-wide or even how long that price will last. If you will be out and about, you may want to check it out.

Winco Coupons
First of all, I am not a fan of Winco. In fact, I rarely go there, for reasons to numerous to mention. That said, it looks like I will have to make a trip - did you get the Winco mailer delivered to your house? It was supposed to be delivered 12/1,2,3. There were a couple things that excited me - since our son moved out, I don't need quite as many groceries as I used to! LOL
Green Giant canned veggies 28c limit 4 (this is my favorite brand of corn), Bandon medium cheddar cheese $2.98 limit 1 (use the $1 co from coupons.com to get 2 lbs for $1.98 - definitely hot!), Pillsbury cake mix 48c limit 2, Shasta cola $1.48 limit 2 (NOT my favorite brand, but the kids will drink it!), Bumble bee tuna 28c limit 3. 10 lbs russet potatoes 68c. Coupons all expire 12/13/09. Other coupons in the ad: Ragu 98c limit 2 (don't you already have enough Ragu?) match with coupon from paper, Langers cranberry juic 98c limit 2, Kelloggs pop tart 78c limit 2, (possibly use 55c co from Kelloggs sprinklins mailer?), Tenderbird chicken breast 3 lb bag(?) $3.98 limit 2 and Yuban 33 oz $3.98 limt 2.
Look for your ad - if the coupons excite you, perhaps your neighbors will give you their ads too?

Mozzarella Cheese at Winco
UPDATE: I found some at the Winco on Fairview/Milwaukee in Boise, so this is also a local deal. Cheese was $2.98.
Here's some exciting info from Being Frugal is Fabulous. One of her readers found Precious Mozzarella, 1 lb.:
$3.15 (it was $3.09 at her store).
There were $1.50 off Peelies right on the Mozzarella
Final Price: $1.65!
Also found were $1.00 peelies on Oberto Beef Jerky, so if that is an item you typically buy, be sure and check them out at your local WinCo. I have not checked local WinCos in the Treasure Valley, if you find some, please let us know in the comments.

I set out today to scope out some deals at Walmart and Winco, but with the AMAZING sale going on at Albertsons this week nothing really looked that great. But, I did find some good deals on produce at Winco! I love Winco’s produce, especially this time of year! Here is what I found at the Winco On State Street . . .

Cantaloupes ONLY 33 cents each!! (limit of 3)
Grapes (both green and red) for 98 cents a pound
Peaches and Nectarines for 98 cent a pound
2 pound packages of blueberries (yum!) $4.98 each
Corn 25 cents each
The 4lbs of Strawberries were $6.98 so Albertsons beats Winco. So if you are wanting Strawberries this week make sure you pick some up at Albertsons for $5.96 (not bad for this late in the summer).
They also had $1.00 off peelies on the Roman Bread making it $1.28 a loaf. Not a bad price for “nice” bread. I especially like that it is double wrapped which helps it last longer in the freezer. Just don’t steal the peelies (I hate peelie stealers!)!!

I was at Winco last night doing my price recon. HOLY COW! It was a zoo! I may have to come up with a new system for price checking. Man, I could hardly get through the aisles! I'm not very tall so seeing over the boxes to avoid workers...well, let's just say it became an adventurous cross between dodge ball & frogger.
There is a chance Winco had some of the items, but there was no way I could see the shelves to verify it. Dang. Hey! At least I got some FREE milk out of the deal! All's well that ends well, right? *smile*

Hey, I know, I know. I saw the homemade syrup receipe on KCL. If you didn't see it, go here and read the comments to the post. However, folks, I'm not going that route. Actually, my husband cooks breakfast on the weekends, so I'm not asking him to go that route. If he's willing to make up a batch of pancakes or waffles, I'm gonna have syrup on hand -- and some I didn't have to make up. *smile* Would rather have the premade stuff and sit reading the paper than have to be in the kitchen on those mornings! LOL!

Winco -- deli lunchmeat score!
Well, if there's such a thing as a "lunch meat snob," then I guess I'm one. After having tasted how much better lunch meat is from the deli counter, I just can't seem to get excited about the prepackaged stuff. I know it can be kinda expensive, but it's one of "those things" I'm willing to splurge a little on. But you already know the couponer in me is howling...in anguish that I'm not using a coupon...so, that makes me always on the lookout for cheaper deli meat. I found this today at Winco. Pretty awesome deal!

Deli Beef Pastrami, $3.58 per lb, 1.2 lbs
Deli Honey Ham, $4.98 per lb, 1 lb

Winco -- great value on produce!
During my Winco price recon last night, here's what I came across that I thought would be worth sharing. I picked up some apples & bananas (didn't want an empty cart & the price was good). I would have grabbed some more fruit (Winco is my 2nd favorite store for produce), but we're still eating on all the sweet, yummy cherries I bought at Freds last week.
I debated whether to include a pic of the fruit -- I mean, I can assume you've all seen bananas & apples before -- but what the heck! A pic is supposed to be worth a thousand words which means I won't have to write as much! *wink*
Total OOP $2.81 ($2.98 w/tax)
1 bunch of bananas, 2.4 lbs
5 golden delicious apples, 2.16 lbs

Winco -- good deals to be had!
While I was doing the price recon for the Albs promo, I decided to use up some of my coupons that were expiring today. I also wanted to take advantage of the tuna price mentioned by one on KCL's readers on their blog.
Here's what happened today:12 cans of tuna

2 $1/2 Campbells IP Q here
Total OOP $9.82 ($10.53 w/tax)
One note: THE EGGS ARE ONLY $0.98 PER DOZEN (first three). So, if you didn't like the eggs on sale at Albs, here is another store you can get them at cheap!
